Derek Ross
A business leader and facilitator who helps leadership teams confront consequential issues, think together with candor, and make a clear decision.
Leadership teams need a place—and a process—for their most important thinking.
Derek envisioned Bush River Decision Lodge and brought it to life on a previously undeveloped wooded property, guided by a conviction shaped by decades of corporate and entrepreneurial experience: consequential decisions require more than another meeting. They require protected time, honest dialogue and an experienced facilitator who can help the team stay with the issue until clarity emerges.
His perspective was shaped in leadership roles and decision-making environments at Procter & Gamble, PepsiCo and Marriott, and later through his own entrepreneurial work. His background is supported by a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations and an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business.
The Lodge’s two-night format reflects that experience. The most valuable thinking does not always happen while people are seated around a table; quiet walks, reflection, distance and sleep create an incubation period in which complex ideas can continue developing before the team returns to the work.
As Executive Facilitator, Derek works with CEOs, presidents, owners and their senior leadership teams to frame the right question, guide the conversation and help the group reach a direction it can support and execute.
What important decision is your leadership team facing?
The first conversation is an opportunity to discuss the issue, the people who need to be involved and whether the Decision Lodge is the right environment for the work.
